‘We Come One’

The once-cherished experience of unity — present amongst likeminded spirits in a nightclub —
has oftentimes been replaced by a kaleidoscopic frenzy of competing technologies, vying for attention.
For some it has become insufficient to have lived a moment, there needs to be proof of it.
We Come One is an ode to all dancers, spaces and collectives who truly understand the dynamics of the dance.

To have lived a moment, to have let it fade.
Only to relive them in the flesh again, another time.

For some it has become insufficient to have lived a moment, there needs to be proof of it. Even though there’d be no-one to doubt such experience.

LD Family
2019-2021
The LD Family is an all-round serif font family, especially suitable for longer ranges of text setting. Its design started in 2019 as a revival project for LUCA School of Arts Ghent, the reference used to create the regular cut is called Light Dorsey from an unknown typecutter, it was found in a specimen of the American Type Founders Company. The revival has slightly different proportions such as smaller ascenders and more generous descenders to improve legibility at small sizes. The font has a robust character which is countered by more elegant curves in the italic.

Thanks to Frederik Berlaen for helping me in the early development.

The monospace style is a playful interpretation on the genre. It is a result from experiments to fill the fixed space to its maximum. At small sizes the extravagant details fade away making it suitable for both display typesetting and text type. It features slightly less OpenType features than the roman and italic versions.
