Holger Display

Work in progress typeface revival originated during my time in the Expert Class Type Design from Frank Blokland. It is based on type found (presumably from François Guyot) in the book ‘Les Ordonnances de l’Ordre de la Thoyson d’Or’, 1559. From the library at Plantin-Moretus.

It deals with patterning and unitization as Frank Blokland argues in his dissertation ‘On the Origin of Patterning in Movable Latin Type’.

Holger Display Roman is close to being done, however the family will get expanded with an Italic cut and corresponding text sizes based on the same proportions and unitization.
